Lowestoft is the most easterly port in the United Kingdom and is served from land by the roadway A12 from the south and A47 north.

The pier head entrance is easily navigated and Port pilot are to hand to navigate vessels into the inner harbour should the ships master require, there is a restriction that any vessel over 50 meteres is to have a compulsory port pilot.

The port is controlled and operated by Associated British Ports who can be contacted on 01502 572286 or VHF Channel 14 from sea, the port can offer a complete marine service to the vessel owner and various locations alongside quays have potable fresh water points,  rubbish skips can be obtained for visiting vessells.
