Small & Co Ltd, the Lowestoft based marine engineering firm were pleased to accept a host of awards from the Lowestoft & Waveney Chamber of Commerce at the annual business awards ceremony in November 2009.

Business leaders from around the area where there to see Small & Co collect awards for; Innovation & Skills Engaging Business, Business Growth Award, Business Investment Award and the big one… Outstanding Business of the Year Award.

Small and Co Managing Director Paul Kirby said he was delighted with the awards as it is always nice to receive recognition for the energy and hard work put in by all employees. He went on to say “2009 has been a massive year for Small & Co [Marine Engineering] ltd, we have undertaken massive projects such as the Trident Energy wave energy machine and we are all looking forward to an even bigger year in 2010″

Small & Co are celebrating again as news leaked that we have been contracted to re-commission from a two year lay up period in mothball M/V Sara service dry dock to run and test all systems and prepare for sea and work for its owners who are involved in oil exploration work Nigeria, Africa.

Small & Co engineers recently travelled to Robysavn in Denmark to assist with an emergency project involving the extending of jack-up legs for the drill barge. Skate 3 4 legs to be extended on site prior to the barge commencing work onsite Small and Co are one of only two contractors to have the correct qualifications for welders required to carryout this form of highly specialist work.

Mr Bellis, Small & Co Welder commented: “We didn’t have time to take in the scenery on this trip. We we whisked off to Holland within 2 hours of the call coming into Small & Co HQ in Lowestoft. We then made our way up to Robysavn in Denmark, where we began work on extending of jack-up legs for the drill barge. We completed the project to the highest of standards and were really proud to add to the growing reputation that Small & Co have across Europe”
